About Stumble Guys
Stumble Guys is a multiplayer party game in which dozens of players race through wobbly obstacle courses, trying to reach the finish line before the others are knocked out. The characters are goofy and floppy, and getting past a spinning bar or a swinging hammer is always more chaotic than you expect.
Each match starts with up to thirty-two players, and several rounds reduce that number until only a few remain, and eventually only one winner. The rounds are short, with different layouts, such as a race through a series of obstacles, a survival round on a shrinking platform or a team challenge. Because the maps change, no two matches feel quite the same, and learning each one is part of the fun.
The controls are simple. A joystick moves your character, and buttons let you jump and dive. The skill lies in timing and in reading the crowd, since many obstacles are made harder by other players pushing and bumping you. Sometimes the best strategy is to hang back and let others take the first hit. At other times, a well-timed dive across a gap gains you the lead.
New players should learn the maps through practice, and watch where the hazards are before the race begins. Avoid the centre of the crowd at the start, since that is where most bumps happen. Use the dive carefully, because it leaves you vulnerable for a second. And remember that the game is meant to be silly, so do not take losses seriously.
Customisation is a large part of the appeal. You can unlock outfits, emotes and animations, and show them off in the lobby. The game also offers private rooms where friends can play together, which is a favourite with groups of teenagers. Because it is an online game, you need a good connection, and chat features exist that parents may want to restrict.Stumble Guys is free, supported by ads and optional in-app purchases.
Another reason players return is the steady flow of updates. New maps, outfits and seasonal events appear often, so the game feels different from month to month. Short matches also make it easy to play a few rounds between other tasks, and the cartoonish look means the chaos is never frightening, even for younger players who enjoy silly competition.
If you enjoy lighthearted competition and do not mind falling over a lot, it is great fun with friends.
