How to Check Whether a Game or App Is Safe to Install
Millions of apps are available on Android, and not all of them deserve a place on your phone. This guide explains the checks we make before we write about a title, so you can repeat them yourself in a few minutes.
1. Install only from the official store
Files shared on random websites, messaging groups or video descriptions are the most common way malware reaches phones. "Modded" or "unlocked" versions of popular games are especially risky, because the people who change the file can add anything they like. If a game is free in the official store, there is no good reason to download a copy from elsewhere.
2. Check the publisher, not only the name
Scammers often copy the name and icon of a well-known game. Open the store listing and look at the developer name, the number of installs, the date of the last update and the recent reviews. A genuine popular game normally has a long history, many reviews and a consistent publisher name.
3. Read the permissions with common sense
A puzzle game does not need your contacts, messages or microphone. If an app asks for access that does not match what it does, deny the request or skip the app. You can review and change permissions at any time in your phone's settings under Apps.
4. Look at how the app makes money
Most free games use advertising and in-app purchases. That is normal, but watch for games that show full-screen ads constantly, hide the close button or push you to spend to continue. Reviews usually mention this quickly.
5. Keep your phone updated
Android and app updates fix security problems. Turn on automatic updates over Wi-Fi, and remove apps you no longer use.
6. Protect your accounts
Use a strong, unique password for any account linked to a game, and turn on two-step verification where it is offered. Never share one-time codes with anyone who contacts you, even if they claim to be support staff.
Following these steps takes only a few minutes and removes most of the risk. If you are unsure about a title, you can email us at info@sulep.online and we will tell you what we know.
